Haying keeps us busy in the summer.

Once the field is cut it needs

Raking rolls the hay into winrows

to be tedded and raked to dry properly.

so that the baler can pick it up.

Here's the baler string going down east field

There is serious work back at the barn,

with half a wagon on. Its hot out there.

Unloading and stacking the hay. Its really hot in there.

900+ bales. This was a good afternoon..

After the baling day is done the crew relaxes with refreshments.

Nothing beats sitting on the farmhouse porch.

And a country dinner.

eating corn on the cob, chicken and all the fixings.

Even the cat gets a snack..
|
After ALL the haying is done we have a crew party.

Much feasting and good cheer celebrates the end of hay season!
